Something that is easy to overlook and not always considered is once you buy a large paddleboard where are you going to store it?
When choosing a paddleboard or any product you want to ensure you made the right decision, and that you made a proper investment.
Fiberglass paddleboards are large, and bulky and awkward to carry. They are heavy and make it difficult just getting out on the water to have a little fun.
I have heard countless stories of people purchasing hard fiberglass boards only to have their board stolen while storing it outside their home, for lack of space to properly store it, encountering sun damage by having it outside in the sun, having to buy a larger vehicle to transport it with what they thought was going to be an inexpensive hobby.
You are forced to buy a large roof rack for your car, and risk damaging the roof of your car. Or even worse just scraping it along a few rocks while on the water leading to a costly repair.
Inflatable paddleboards, or commonly known as iSUPS are an excellent alternative that can combat these issues and still provide you with the maximum amount of fun while out on the water.
At Never Ever Boards, we will choose inflatable boards, over wooden, fiberglass, or foam every time. Not only have they made leaps and bounds over the years in terms of product progression, but the price is half that compared to these alternative methods.
The added benefit and biggest purchasing point is the ability to deflate these boards down to bag size, throw it on your back and be able to ride down to the beach even using a bicycle or your local watering hole, pump it up in roughly 5 minutes, and have an equivalent hardboard without all the hassle.
Then after your done, deflate it, bring it back home, and have it stored safe and sound in your closet, or keep it in the trunk of your car if you ever get that paddling urge, we're not here to judge.
Which I'm telling you once you start this will happen often.
You'll have the option to simply pump it up on your lunch break, and be able to hit the water, simply and conveniently.
Our Beast, a quality entry-level, all-around iSUP, serving as our flagship product, is a testament to the nature of a well built, aesthetically pleasing inflatable paddleboard at an excellent price point.
This board is built from professional-grade material, you can be confident will hold up through the test of time, and is pleasing to look at when you begin your adventure on the water. With the addition of the solid inner PVC shell providing strength and stability, you can be assured that you are protected from your occasional bumps, and drops.
Compared to a hardboard wherewith one single drop on the concrete your pricey investment can shatter to pieces. One small ding on a hardboard can wind up costing you hundreds.
Not saying with one of these a repair will never have to be done, but in this case, our boards come with a repair kit, with step by step instructions in the event something happens where you can easily repair it yourself in minutes.
Saving you time, headache and money.
As we've touched on, these boards when inflated properly to the recommended 12 PSI you can walk with a strut in your step, and a smile on your face knowing you have a solid board that will last you for many years.
They can be left in the sun (deflate some since the sun naturally inflates product), can be dropped off your car, be drug through the dirt, and still after a good wash, look as good as new.
In the grand scheme of things, this is a fairly new technology, and people are starting to realize the capabilities and possibilities of inflatable boards. They look great, hold up well, are cheaper, but most of all with newer technology it gives you something to show off.
People are still blown away, even the ones standing there with their hardboards, seeing a deflated SUP come to life. It really is an amazing sight to see that within minutes this small folded up lightweight board becoming this huge almost 11' board ready for the water.
You'll be stunned the first several times, don't worry this is normal. The first wheel was also stone, but over time we found out that wasn't the best option.
These boards are great for those starting out since you won't have to worry about breaking the bank, will give you a chance to see if it's right for you, which we're sure that's a no-brainer, and you'll love it as many others do, but also because it is a softer top it is much safer to use.
Let's be real here, you may have excellent balance, we're not saying you don't or hey it could be terrible, and we're not judging you if you do.
As with many things, there is a learning curve, and as you're getting your feet wet, for lack of a better expression, you will more than likely take a tumble or two while getting the hang of it.
The good thing with this it feels a lot better falling on a cushion of air compared to hard fiberglass. At the end of the day, you need to choose what's right for you. In this case we hope we were able to provide you with substantial evidence to sway you towards inflatables because they are one awesome alternative.
Please drop any questions below, we'd love to hear your feedback, or to help guide you to make the best decision.
Thanks for your time, have fun paddling!!

When stand up paddling, the following muscle groups are activated: abdominal, transverse abdominal, broadest back muscle (latissimus dorsia), trapezius muscle, and adductor muscles of the hip. Also, although the stroke is predominantly triggered from the upper extremities, hip and knee stabilizers work very hard and produce great strength and strength in the overall movement. Stand up paddling is an ideal exercise for the whole body where the agonists and antagonists of the anterior and posterior kinetic chains are constantly changing, thus activating the entire muscular system. Any activity that improves the stability of the torso is useful in the prevention of injuries and the development of general strength.
Conducting strength exercises on unstable surfaces has been proven to be a great tool for developing torso muscle endurance .. as well as proprioceptive and reaction capabilities, which reduces the chance of injury to the lower extremities. As a final proof of the propriety of paddle boarding in an upright position to activate the torso muscles it is sufficient to point out the conclusion of the study that "in order to increase neuromuscular activation of the superficial muscles of the trunk, exercises should be used in standing instead of sitting, and unilateral exercises instead of bilateral". And paddleboarding has just been described - the standing position of the body with predominantly bilateral movements when paddling. The positive physiological impact of paddle boarding was demonstrated through a study (Schram, B. et al., 2015) wherein 13 subjects, who completed the basic training program and techniques, practiced rowing 1 hour - three times a week for a period of six weeks. Significant changes occurred in the domain of aerobic endurance (+ 23.57%) and anaerobic endurance (+ 41.98%) and overall health (+ 18.99%). Also indicated is progress from 17.89% in psychological tests and quality of life satisfaction questionnaires. Further, the positive effects are shown by the data from the same survey and confirmed positive progress in paddling performance itself as well as anaerobic strength indicators and a derivative of strength.
A very positive feature of paddleboarding is that the activity is always carried out outdoors (lake, sea, river), which is much more useful than exercise indoors - gyms, gyms and the like. Open spaces and nature have been proven to be a positive psychological effect on participants which in activities carried out in this way enhancing different psychic characteristics.
Also, according to various researches in outdoor activities, participants develop their self-sufficiency, that is, they realize that they can independently solve life problems. Astrand P.O. (2003) summarized why paddling and similar sports should be performed as often as possible in children and adults: "Frequent physical activity of children and adults is crucial for normal growth and development and a major impact on general health in the developmental years and later life. " He also emphasizes the importance of outdoor activities for mental wellbeing and health and concludes: "Therefore, children should play at least 60 minutes a day in nature and conduct similar activities in kindergartens, schools and other institutions."
In conclusion, get out and paddle, your health depends on it!
]]>Over time our SUP Rental program is subject to change based off suggestions and by discovering ways in which we can improve.
Currently, this is how things are set-up if you were wondering or were considering renting from us...
What makes us different than our competitors is our boards are exclusively inflatable, this provides a convenience factor since they can simply be thrown in the trunk of your car and blown up in 5 minutes by the provided pump and hose. You also don't have to worry as much about injuring yourself if you're a first-timer since the fall will be a lot easier on your body essentially cushioning your fall with a soft top opposed to a hardboard made of fiberglass. (Fiberglass boards are also more susceptible to damage if you drop them and are much heavier and awkward to carry)
The benefit of an inflatable board and handling your own pick-up and drop-off you have the option to try out paddleboarding in a few places in the allotted timeframe you decided to opt into.
With our try-before-you-buy program with either the mid-tier or the high-tier rental level as a Summer promotion, we deduct your rental rate from the cost of a new board saving you even more!
Because of demand around this time of the season, we also pre-book over the phone to ensure we have the paddleboard available for you and reserve your spot!
Our 3 Rental Options and Boards Described:
The Beast which is our flagship model and what I recommend starting out. It is an all-around board and is great for beginners, stable and has a traction pad on the back end of the board for additional control, and to aid in turning.
The Echo is another one in our line-up which closely resembles the Beast, but is a little more narrow and not quite as long. Also an all-around board, but works better for someone of a smaller frame, and body type. It doesn't support as much weight or have the stability of the Beast.
The last of the fleet for this season, our Dhyana, is a beautiful yoga board that rents at $30 an hour because of the larger size and product cost. This is geared more towards those who already practice yoga or are looking to use a larger board for added stability, but you do lose some speed.
**If absolutely necessary we can arrange a delivery which will have an added surcharge.
$15 for one hour with a free hour for our Summer Promo!
$35 for 3 hours!
And $75 for a full 24 hour period!!
This may seem like a very simple question, and considering you've landed on this page you probably know a thing about paddle boarding already. You've been introduced to it by a friend, you've rented a paddle board, or you've seen people paddle board at the beach before.
You may have thought it looked super cool and wanted to give it a try or you may have just heard of it from the grapevine, and are wondering exactly what it is.
Paddle boarding is something that can be enjoyed by people of many different age ranges, and of all different body statures, either gender and from all walks of life. Breaking down paddle boarding in it's most principal form, you'll find the use of a board, or as others refer to it as a small vessel. These can be made from various materials, fiberglass, or even rubber which will allow you to inflate and deflate your paddle board.
Picture a surfboard, a longboard magnified about 3 to 5 times, and you have a paddle board, about 10 ft long on average, and a large oval shape with fins on the bottom. The board is made for maximum stability and is equipped to give you all the stability you need to stand on the board as you paddle.
You want to most importantly make sure the board is the right size for your height, and your weight, along with the type of paddle boarding you are planning on doing. We get into further detail about picking the right size board for you in our, Beginners Guide to Stand Up Paddle Boarding.
The type of paddle boarding you plan on doing will have a direct effect on the board you choose. They make boards for river rapids, surfing, racing, fishing, groups, and all-around boards. Your best bet starting out is an all-around board since this will make you best equipped to deal with most paddle boarding situations you will find yourself in. This will make your board the most versatile. As cheesy as it sounds when you get a feeling that the board is right for you, you will absolutely know it. You will feel almost a connection with the board like it is an extension of yourself, a part of you. Just like when you find a car that feels like you have full control over it's every move.
Affordability: When it comes down to it, the quality of a product normally wins overall, but you also don't want to spend an arm and a leg getting a quality product. Luckily with our financing options, we offer through afterpay all of our paddle boards are priced in a way to make our paddle boards the most affordable for your budget. Your first board shouldn't be the most expensive because you want to make sure paddle boarding is right for you and not put a hole in your pocket while doing so. The choice is up to you on what you can afford but I'd recommend a mid-range priced paddle board and purchasing a more expensive board as you get more advanced.
Purpose: As we mentioned before, and we will stress again your purpose is important, that is with paddle boarding and everything in life. Decide exactly how you want to use your board, what type of paddle boarding you plan on doing, and move forward with the board you feel will be best for you.
Weight & Storage: You have to consider that paddle boards are fairly large, and generally can be pretty heavy. Especially fiberglass boards. Inflatable paddle boards are lighter and much easier to store. You can deflate them, and even transport them in the trunk of your car. If you plan on getting a fiberglass board prior to purchasing make sure you are prepared to transport it in a truck or can carry it on top of a roof rack on your car. They can sometimes take even two people to move them from your vehicle to the water. It's always best to paddle board with a companion anyway. More fun, and safer that way.
Quality: Quality products are tantamount to a smart purchase, but never, and I repeat never overpay for good quality. You want to pay what it's worth, and only what you feel is a value you can derive from it. A good purchase is when you acquire a product and are able to use that product for more value then you were able to expend for it, meaning if it cost you 20-30 hours worth of work you want to be able to get at least 20 to 30 hours worth of fun. Now with paddle boarding that's not going to be hard at all.
There is a stark difference between fiberglass and inflatable paddle boards, and the difference doesn't just lie with the material which is more obvious. The major difference is the price. Many paddle boards of the inflatable variety are priced under $600 whereas with a fiberglass paddle board you are looking to pay upwards of $1,000.
A common myth is that fiberglass boards are made to be much more durable, when in fact this isn't always the case. Inflatable boards are capable of supporting just as much weight as their fiberglass counterpart and can hold up for just as long or longer. Plastic lasts forever.
Inflatable boards are much easier to store, considering once they are deflated you can even keep them in the closet at your home, or keep your board in the trunk of your car. The weight is also normally a bit less on an inflatable paddleboard, so is also less strain on you through transport, and can be handled by one person. If durability, price, and quality are a concern for you I would overly recommend an inflatable board compared to a fiberglass board, they are the wave of the future.
Below is an example of one of our favorites by Aqua Marina:
As we learned today you can find some major differences between paddle boards on the market today. As a wary shopper, you want to be aware of a few key metrics prior to making your purchase. To review you want to consider your purpose, your budget, how you plan on transporting your new board, and above all you want to purchase quality. I invite you to check out our boards, and if you have any questions feel free to contact us through our site at any time. Please allow up to 24 hours for a reply. ]]>Paddle boards are quite a bit larger than your typical surfboard. Lugging it around can be something that takes some getting used to, especially if you've been out of practice for a while or haven't been very active lately. Here are some basic tips that can help make the usual transport a bit easier for a board you get that isn't inflatable.
Make Sure to Select a Stable Paddle Board
Starting out what you typically want to use for most body sizes is a wide 2.5' by 11’ board to ensure maximum stability. Most importantly make sure to always start in calm, flat water and pay attention to your surroundings and find the best place to go paddle boarding.
Also, make sure you check the product description for the weight limit of the board to make sure it will fully support you.
It is important that the board feels comfortable and stable when standing up. If at any point while getting on it feels unstable after several attempts to gain your balance, try a larger, wider paddle board.
It helps for many people to start paddling on your knees at first, and as you feel more comfortable to make your attempt to stand up on the board.
A common mistake many people have starting out is choosing a board much too small, and never actually being able to gain balance, becoming disheartened, and giving up. That's what Jim did. Don't be like Jim. Choose the right size board to start out and when in doubt, always go wider and thicker, life's truest words.
Picking the Right Size Paddle
The right size paddle can make or break you. You want the paddle to be more of an extension of yourself where it feels fluid, smooth, comfortable in your hands, and not awkward in the least bit. Not as far as Wolverine with his blades, but just about.
A common rule of thumb is to choose a paddle, a "shaka" length, which is 5 to 7 inches, above your head for surfing when the paddle is lined up to your body, and 10 inches above your head for racing.
Or if you're just going for a leisure paddle and going to be doing some general paddling a safe bet is to take your height and add 9 to 10 inches.
The proper way to hold the paddle is by taking a grip of the top of your paddle with one hand and gripping it firmly and by placing your other hand at the center of the shaft of the paddle.
Hold the paddle directly in front of you, like your going to stir the potion in a cauldron and bend your elbow at a clean 90 degrees, just like the outside temperature, or maybe that's a different measurement. You're hot either way, so don't worry about it. It's all about the feel, and the motion of the ocean. This level of spacing between your hands is appropriate to ensure you get a good stroke through the water.
If done properly the blade is at an irresistible angle facing away from you cutting through the water with the precision of a ninja, you paddle boardin' ninja. Be sure to always face the blade away from you, as if you were cutting down a gnarley tree.
And don't worry paddles are built to float, so if you do fall, which you probably will and you must let it go, when you come back up it will floating right next to you.
As I mentioned before young padawan you are still only a beginner in your paddling infancy, you soon too will be a master and will outperform your teacher, keep in mind at first to make sure the water is calm and flat, you will fall, maybe not a lot, but it will happen. Just pick yourself up, and get back up there, you an't no quitter! You can't walk before you crawl.
Now let's get a little philosophical, not like, "Are you the paddle boarder, or is the paddle boarder you?" or any other mind numbing existential life theory, but more like we all have a way of doing things, and our own set of techniques. You may find one style technique works much better for you than another.
You want to use your paddle as a lever, but not like a lever on a slot machine, this isn't a gamble here, this is your life which is at risk and something you never want to gamble with. ok guys sorry to get so serious just making a point, when in the water you must be overly cautious, alert and aware of all your surroundings.
When using this first technique your top hand located towards the top of the paddle acts as a driver for the lever and your bottom hand will act as the place that allows your paddle to pivot through the water. Here's a gif that will give you a good idea. Sometimes making it visual is easier.
So with that in mind, turn your eyes towards these stroking tips:
Or you can Abide by the Push-Pull Method
The push-pull method is the most effective way of paddling when stand-up paddle boarding, at least that's what they say. This method requires inserting your paddle into the water ahead of the feet, and pulling it backward and lifting it back out of the water and repeating
Did you know that Paddle Boarding is the fastest growing sport in the entire world and is still a relatively young sport? With its advent only as far back as 2004 as we know it today. This new sport in its current form is only 14 years old first starting in Hawaii many years ago and taking the world by storm through San Diego, California.
Paddleboarding is not only a great form of exercise for a full body core workout, it's unlike any other way to experience the water. People of all ages, body types, and levels of talent, even you young padawan can take to paddle boarding exceptionally fast. Dogs even sometimes out paddle their owners. Get out there and most importantly, have fun!

Best Times of the day to go Paddle Boarding
One of your biggest considerations you will find when paddle boarding is wind speed. It can be your greatest asset or your worst enemy.
Depending on the nature of the ride you are looking for, wind can be a huge determining factor on the type of ride you experience. For a more advanced paddle boarder, you may want a higher wind speed which will give you a faster ride on the board but for a beginner, you want to go out on a relatively calm day.
Unlike with kayaking, a lower tide doesn't affect much, but for the lower wind speed, you are looking for you generally want to go out early mornings and evenings. These are ultimately the best times for paddle boarding for the most comfortable ride.
Higher wind speeds can create choppier waters, which can become a bit dangerous if you're not that experienced yet. Consider a wind speed slower than 10 knots starting out.
When combating a wind speed at the start of your paddle, you want to go against the breeze, so your later trip back to the shore won't tire you out.
Plan your excursion around the tides. The levels of the tide can make for an entirely different trip paddling back. Be sure to check the tides before going out to ensure your safety and avoid exhaustion on your trip back to the shore.
How You Can Prepare for a Paddle Boarding Day Trip
You want to take the same general measures as if you were going out on a boat, you always want to be prepared for the worst-case scenario. Safety is always first.
Before you take voyage and embark on your journey, you want to make sure you have everything marked off your checklist and all of your equipment and accessories required, the essentials.
Now certain things may not be considered exactly essential for you but having these items listed above can only make for the best experience.
But do make sure you keep in mind the U.S Coast Guard classifies paddle boards as vessels. This means if you are out paddling away from the surf or swimming area you must by law have a (PFD) on board or risk being fined.
Now adults aren't actually required to wear the flotation device or life vest, but children must wear one at all times. It is for your safety, you will be glad you had one on board in the event you ever did run into a problem. If you are paddling in the right place at the right time, this is a precautionary measure, and you need not worry.
To warn other boaters it is necessary to carry a safety whistle as well. Sometimes an oncoming boat may not take notice of a smaller vessel especially in poorly lit conditions, or if you are in a blind spot.
Having a safety whistle can alert this boater of your presence, and could mean saving your life. You always want to make sure you are aware of all your surroundings at all times, and very alert. Make sure to look out onto the horizon to give you ample time to prepare for any oncoming boats or other vessels.
If traveling at night make sure to be extra cautious, and carry a light with you. You want to make sure you are seen way before any other vessel comes in close contact with you. This light can be mounted and propped off the front of the paddle board to act as a spot-light so you are seen in plain sight.
Now, these may not be requirements but can make for an even better experience...
Now that you have checked all the items off your checklist you're now ready to get out there on the open water and go paddle boarding, well not quite...
Where to Actually go Paddle Boarding Where You'll Know You're Safe
The biggest things to consider when going paddle boarding is your surroundings. You want to make sure you are in an area that does not have a lot of boat traffic, and you always want to have a good exit strategy.
If not that experienced, you want to avoid the surf as you can leave yourself more prone to falling off the board and possibly experiencing a pretty nasty tumble.
Until you get your footing you want to follow the tips above and shoot for more calm waters, low wind speed, and pretty open water to give you plenty of space to practice, and less chance of putting yourself in a more dangerous situation.
We would advise avoiding the ocean at first until you become a bit more advanced and have a good balance and feel comfortable on the board. At first, it is best to practice on a lake, calm rivers, a pond, waterways, and canals. Brackish water (which is a mix of salt/fresh water), and fresh water are the places to shoot for, as you will generally find a more relaxed situation.
Feel free to scope out the area for a good 20 minutes, and talk with fellow paddlers and boaters in that area so you know exactly what to expect. It is always best to bring a partner with you so that you can stay accountable for each other and keep one another safe.
Places to Avoid While Going Paddle Boarding
Most of these places to avoid have been covered above, but to further elaborate you want to most importantly go where you feel safe, avoid choppy water, avoid high traffic areas, avoid places where you can get stuck because tide is far too low, and avoid the ocean at first until you are more advanced.
The ocean can be a blast to paddle in, but you want to make sure you don't paddle out too far, the current can easily pull you out. You don't want to be pulled out so far that it can make it difficult to paddle back into shore, or where you'd find yourself too exhausted to make it back.
You may find yourself in a rip tide, which is a strong current caused by tidal flow that will pull you out to sea if you're not careful. If you ever find yourself caught in a rip tide, and being pulled by the ocean outside of your control, remain calm and paddle parallel to the shore. Following these directions will get you out of this nasty situation, once you're out and safe, paddle back to the shore and give yourself a break until you're ready to go out again.
General Precautions to Consider
As stated at the beginning of the article safety always come first. If you ever feel unsafe trust your instinct, and make adjustments, or paddle back to shore. Take all precautionary measures and always make sure you are fully prepared.
Bring a buddy so you will be able to look out for each other. If you don't have someone to go with, make sure you stay close to shore or have an emergency contact easily accessible on your cell phone that is fully charged, as well as a fully charged power bank as a backup.
This can be a fun sport and an awesome hobby for someone of all ages, I hope you were able to take some keynotes away from this article and you were able to learn something today.
Now get out there and have a blast paddle boarding and feel free to reach out to info@nevereverboards.com if you have any questions!
]]>Increasingly becoming more and more popular every year, you can find a number of friends and meet-up groups interested in the sport. Best to be enjoyed by a group, but can also be enjoyed as a meditative personal exercise.
]]>I would admit, it's a great time to go out paddle boarding just before the temperature get's blazing hot and before you are tied up with all kinds of Summer plans. What I would also admit is the price can be kind of costly sometimes. $20 an hour, $40 for a half day, or up to $60-100 for a full day.
Some of us wish we got paid that kind of money, let alone a board making bank like that.. but with paddle boards ranging up to as much as $700 to $1000 it can make sense to a lot of people to use a paddleboard rental service.
Now let's do a little math and crunch a few numbers, paying this kind of money if you were to go a half day on 10 occasions you're already up to $400 marker and a handful of fun times.
What if I was to tell you that you can derive the same level of pleasure and stretch your dollar by going a better route. And I'm not saying to just go and give up paddle boarding altogether, just that you may find yourself looking at a better option.
Traditional paddle boards can be heavy and not quite as versatile or as portable as you would like making it difficult to lug around or even troubles getting it into the water. That's why with an inflatable paddle board version it is not only practical because of the storage capacity but also less expensive and more hassle-free.
We carry a number of paddle boards starting as low as $475 with new paddle boards at even lower prices coming very soon. This fun sport doesn't have to be expensive. And if you did the math, if you go on 12 half day excursions it pays for itself.
Now with new financing options we began to offer with Paypal we are now able to offer you a monthly option deferring your payment, and getting you out there in the water having fun even sooner. Think of it this way if you were to go with a 12-month option you'd be looking at paying right around $40 over a 12-month cycle with the ability to paddle board as much as you want!
I hope I have not led you astray with the desire to rent a paddle board, but if we find that you do have a demand to rent a paddle board instead of buying or paying as you go, please express your interest and we may offer this option in the future.
Thanks for your time!
