Santa Cruz x Pokémon Is Back — And This Time It's Bigger Than Ever

Mark your calendars, because the collab that broke the internet in 2023 is returning for a much bigger encore. Santa Cruz Skateboards and The Pokémon Company International are teaming up again this fall for a blind-bag skateboard drop celebrating the Pokémon Trading Card Game's 30th anniversary — and this time, they're going all in with 30 unique deck designs.

A Bigger Sequel to a Sold-Out Original

If you were around for the first Santa Cruz x Pokémon collab, you already know how this story goes. Back in September 2023, Santa Cruz dropped 20 Pokémon-themed decks in sealed blind bags for around $115 each. Fifteen were holo-foil variants featuring fan favorites like Pikachu, Mew, Mewtwo, Gengar, and the Kanto starters. The other five were ultra-rare gold foil editions, limited to just 50 copies worldwide.

The result? Bags sold out almost instantly, and resellers had a field day — sealed bags were flipping for hundreds of dollars on eBay within 24 hours, with some still trading well above retail today.

What's New This Time

For the 30th anniversary of the TCG's release, the collab is scaling up in a big way:

  • 30 deck designs instead of 20, each based on one of the most iconic card designs from the last three decades of the Pokémon TCG

  • A mix of holographic foil finishes, with Santa Cruz teasing several designs on social media ahead of the release

  • An apparel lineup alongside the boards, including t-shirts, hoodies, and hats — some featuring Santa Cruz's classic hand logo reimagined holding a TCG card

  • The blind-bag format returns, meaning you won't know which design you've got until you tear open the packaging — same nerve-wracking, pack-opening energy as cracking a booster box, but for a full-sized rideable deck

Santa Cruz hasn't confirmed pricing, however it has now been confirmed there will be 3 gold foil variants available, each limited to 500 globally. Each of those limited decks will be a Glitter Gold Foil finish, featuring multi-card collages on each.

When and Where

Our interested buyers list is officially closed.  Preorders are not allowed due to stated policy. We will have a online raffle for a single deck on drop day so check the website and follow our Instagram.

Why It's Worth Watching

This collab sits at a pretty rare intersection: skate culture and TCG collecting don't usually share an audience, but Santa Cruz and Pokémon have found real crossover appeal. For collectors, it's a chance to own a piece of art commemorating three decades of one of the most influential card games ever made. For skaters, it's a genuinely rideable board with a design pedigree most decks can't touch. And for resellers — well, if 2023 is any indication, the secondary market is going to be loud.

Whether you're in it to ride, display, or flip, one thing is clear: this drop is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated skate releases of the year.
